ASET provides a full range of language translation solutions for documentation, software, web, multimedia applications and conference interpreting services in 150+ language combinations.
ASET's Commercial Translation Department is seeking a talented Quality Control Specialist to carry on our commitment to delivering quality products to our customers. The QC Specialist is responsible for comparing translated documents, websites, and software with the original (source) materials. This is NOT a translation position, but it does require language sensitivity, knowledge of at least one foreign language, and an exquisite eye for detail. Do you proofread the menu when you eat out at restaurants? Do you correct the grammar of your friends and neighbors? Are you going back through this ad looking for typos? This might be the position for you!
REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- You MUST be a United States citizen (you will be required to bring a copy of your passport or birth certificate)
- You MUST be able to work from our office in Arlington, VA (Court House Metro)
- You MUST possess an advanced level of English fluency (native or near native), with intermediate to advanced knowledge of at least one foreign language
- You MUST have attention to detail and be able to follow meticulous guidelines
- You MUST have excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite
- You MUST have a serious commitment to accuracy and quality
- You MUST have the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities
- You MUST have the capacity to perform repetitive tasks without losing focus
- You MUST be interested in working in a multi-cultural environment
- You MUST be available during normal business hours (9-6)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- You MUST have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (studies in language and/or linguistics preferred)
DESIRED
- Prior experience in Quality Assurance (not necessarily translation industry)
- Proofreading/copy-editing or similar experience
- Translation industry and/or software knowledge a plus
- Experience with/knowledge of common DTP software packages a plus
- Experience with/knowledge of basic web design/technology a plus
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
